additional 10 cat 5 network points

We want to add an additional 10 network points to our existing network.

The building is divided in 2 halves and it would be simpler to add the extra 10 points using one of the existing network points, with a new gigabit switch and patch panel in that half of the building.

What are the drawbacks of doing this for 10 xp pro workstations running sage CRM, Outlook, and internet.

I understand running the cables back to my main patch panel is better but we need to keep the costs down where possible.
