I have been given a 3GB hard drive to add on to my Packard Bell Pentium II PC motherboard to boost the measly 5GB Hard drive already installed – the PC is 5 years old now and i want to build a new PC later this year when i have more confidence! I slotted in the “new” hard drive that apparently has partitions on it – which i was told i could use the FDISK option to resolve.
My main problem is that once installed i get the black screen of death – i have set the jumper to Master for the original hard drive and slave for the addtional hard drive. The orginal hard drive has been split into C:\ D:\ E:\ and G:\ by a local computer shop when i had problems upgrading to Win98 SE (i didn’t ask them to do that though!!)
I think it might not be possible to add another hard drive to this type of PC so would i be better buying a single larger hard drive to replace the orignal and set it as the master? I was told some time ago that this type of PC is a pain to upgrade.
I need advice before i go insane LOL
