administrator not recognized

i just loaded nt 4 workstation on my machine . set up admin with a password and logged in as admin , but cannot perform any admin tasks like service pack upgrades or add users it says i have to be logged in as admin . BUT I AM !!!

i installed netware client and setup networking before installing any service pack . could this be a cause????
