I have a ADSL Dlink modem and a netgear router. I have connected them in the following configuration. ADSL ethernet out goes to one of the netgear router ports (not the uplink port). One desktop wired connected to the other network port. One laptop connected to netgear wirelessly. I have given following IPs. Dlink – 192.168.1.1 , Netgear 192.168.1.2 , Desk 192.168.1.3 and laptop 192.168.1.4 Infact I have DHCP enabled on bothe dlink and netgear. I can access the internet but it keeps going down often. That time i cant even ping 192.168.1.1 . At all the time I cant pint 192.168.1.2 or access wireless modem for ongifuration. Can you help me set up the network properly. I see one strange problem very often. Suddenly I get disconnected from the internet i.e. browsing stops but if I am downloading something, it keeps continuing, doesnt break.
(I am not using the uplink port because for some reason netgear fails to connect to internet then. It detects the internet but then fails to connect).
