Hi everyone,
I’m currently helping a mid-sized company (around 250 employees) evaluate whether we should continue expanding our on-premises infrastructure or start transitioning more aggressively toward cloud-based solutions. We’ve been operating with a hybrid model for the last few years—some critical systems remain on-prem due to legacy dependencies, while newer workloads and services are hosted on AWS.
Now that our user base and data needs are growing, we’re hitting performance and scalability limits. Budget is always a factor, of course, but so is long-term maintainability, security, and disaster recovery.
I’d love to hear from others who’ve gone through a similar decision process:
– What were your biggest deciding factors in going full cloud vs staying on-prem (or hybrid)?
– How did you handle legacy systems that couldn’t easily be migrated?
– Any unexpected challenges or benefits once the shift was complete?
– From a cost perspective, did cloud actually save money in the long run?
I’m particularly curious about your experiences with managing staff transitions—did you retrain existing IT teams for cloud architecture or bring in new hires/consultants? Also, if you have any recommendations on specific cloud providers or migration tools in aem training that made your journey smoother, I’d be grateful.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts—thanks in advance for any insights or advice you can share!
