Advice on mail server for windows as per requirement.

by purple.tech123 . Updated 17 years ago

Hello,

We are a small sized startup firm and need advice from u experts on setting up an inhouse mail server on Windows.
**hardware setup is also still in progress.

Currently we are a team of 15-20 but definitely aim at growing in a years time. Our requirement is for exchanging documents with clients in US on daily basis via email. We do not want a freeware – cause they may not be too reliable on security & service. So we’ll go for a paid package but again – nothing too expensive.

Ealier we were confused whether to setup file servers – one inhouse (for storage as well as faster access of docs for us) and the other in US (for client’s convenience wherein the client could access the docs faster)- and periodic replication of docs between the 2 servers. But this seeemed too elaborate a task & also requires maintaining 2 servers.

So then we settled for doc exchange via email, which would be easiest and require only one inhouse mail server setup by us. – Any suggestion on this decision is welcomed.

I have gone through many discussions on mail servers here, but still not sure if anything already said suits my requirement.
Could someone kindly suggest what are the best mail server options for us – for a fast, secure, fairly scalable and not too expensive server.
Also, any additional inputs/feedback will be helpful.

Thanks a lot mates.
Help really appreciated.
Ash.
