I’m running a Win 2000 RADIUS server using PEAP and the WiFi Access Point is set for AES encryption.
I have a Win XP PRO SP2 machine with latest Intel WiFi card drivers. When I go into the Intel utility i have all the options for AES encryption, WPA2 enterprise and private, but when I use the Windows WiFi Manager i only have WAP under WPA also WPA2 is not present either. To top it all off when I set the connection for everything like the AP requires but the encryption to WEP, because thats the only encryption option I have (although AP is set for AES), it connects and after I authenticate via the RADIUS server it works. According to the AP manual when it is set for AES it is not backward compatible with WEP (only logical).
Does anyone know why this happens? How would I check if the AP is actually running AES not WEP encryption. Maybe someone knows how to update the Windows WiFi Manager to show all the options?

As soon as I rebooted the PC AES appeared out of the blue. Gotta love Microsoft. 🙂
