I paid a local pc company to upgrade my mainboard and processor to Athlon XP2000 on a AMI mainboard ECS manufacturer K7S5A version 3.1a (although the disc that came with the manual said version1.6S). Several times in the last week my pc has defaulted back on its own to 100/100 bus speed causing the processor speed to drop and the date/time to default to 26/6/02 and 00:00 hours (the date of manufacture of the board). Each time i have to go back into the bios and reset to 133/133 to reset up tothe 1.67 GHz speed that it is supposed to operate at. I have called the pc company and they just say that the mainboard is “bedding in” and it happens a lot!! I am not sure if they are taking me for a mug as I am new to all this – first year in college studying.
Is the solution to flash upgrade the bios or is it a faulty motherboard? I am running Windows 98SE as my kids games all run on that OS.
