I have tried zone alarm, MCAfee PC Protection Plus and now a trial version of Trend Micro. Any time I do anything in any window, my hard drive revs up and then just seems to hang for a bit. Even as I write this the hard drive is making revving noises. This never happened before. It is very annoying that it really slows the whole computer down.
I’ve done virus scans and spyware stuff and nothing comes up.
Any suggestions??? TIA.
Edited to add: I disabled Trend and ran smart and other diagnostic tests on hard drive. It passes. The problem started last month when I changed Mcafee so I assumed it was the av program causing problem. Now that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Any ideas pls? I don’t have a clue what to do next. I will run a complete F12 but I did that recently and everything passed. But I’ll do again. Thank you!!
