We installed APCC Back UPS PRO’s (500’s and 350’s) on 21 COMPAQ DeskPro EN PC’s in our LAN. On 8 of these PC’s the software installed normally, but never completes the initialization phase, and therefore cannot initiate a shutdown in the event of apower outage. Uninstalling and reinstalling does not change anything.
I filed problem reports with both APCC and COMPAQ over a year ago, and have never gotten a solution to this problem.
We have looked at PC serial numbers,Windows versions, BIOS versions, processors, and SYS.ROM information, and have not found a common denominator or a fix.
