Application Deployment

Our shop is implementing a MS based ERP to cover 5 manufacturing plants – all of which queue their production within a sixth plant where all products are finished.

The system being replaced is a Mapics system running on an AS400.

The debate centers around – “how do we switch from the old to the new?” I know that lots of you have engaged in these kinds of switch overs and I’m curious about what methods succeeded.

Our group is currently discussing bringing up one plant at a time or bringing all plants up simultaneously. The old and new systems are quite different and we’re really concerned about affecting production and business during the switch over process.
