AS/400 Printer w/SQL

I currently have a dot-matrix printer that is dedicated to my AS/400. Is there a converter switch that is avaiable so that I can use this printer for both my AS/400 and SQL Server reporting needs? Someone at IBM told me no…others are saying they have heard of it being done. Please give me some direction!
