As the economy plummets so do jobs for the ‘old’ crowd

I’ve looked for work now for 4 years. I’m only working part time. I’m 62. I have an M.A. in Psychology. I was last a director of marketing in banking for 6 years. Now I do SEO and e-commerce marketing for some aftermarket websites, and editing and copywriting for others.
I apply through several sources to a dozen positions a week and I don’t even get a response.
NOW that the economy is tanking, I think my job prospects are too. I have abandoned all hopes of ever retiring. My future seems to be heading towards my mastering the delivery of the magical phrase, “Paper or plastic?”
