Atapi error on HP ProLiant DL320 G5

We are recieving the following error:

There is no CD in the optical drive, but for some reason these errors keep getting generated. The issue has been going on since before last reboot. The optical drive has been verified to work. HP support was not much help. Anyone got some ideas?

Here are some specs:
Windows server 2003 w/SP2
Intel Xeon 3050 2.13ghz, 2GB RAM.
Role: Blackbaud server
