attachments in outlook

In our organization our users are still running Outlook 2000 working with an Exchange server.

Just recently I’ve had users reporting that when they send messages with attachments they no longer get a line under the subject text box for the attachments. Rather, they see an icon for the attachment within the body of the message. For the life of me I cannot find a setting that indicates where to change this.
Anyone out there have the answer?
