Auto configure outlook from two domains

by webster.rantsolase . Updated 16 years, 11 months ago

Good day

I need to know if there’s a way to get outlook to acquire account settings from an exchange server running on a separate domain, which we have access to. We are part of the government and under a separate domain. I have also noted that when you put in the users email address at the user creation it populates the address for email after the user has joined the domain and when you kick start outlook.

Here is the process we normally follow to setup a users account.

1. Start up outlook and go to manually configure server settings.

2. Select Exchange

3. Put in the IP at the exchange server name.

4. Put in the surname and click check name.

5. Cross fingers

6. Authentication windows pops up, put in username (otherdomain/username) and password.

7. Select user from found matches. (Uncross fingers)

8. Then the Ip typed at the exchange server name resolves to something like mailserverxxx.gauteng.gpg.local, ther are about 8 of those servers.

I think there is a way to automate this process.
