Automatically connect to ADSL

by djdustb . Updated 22 years, 8 months ago

I have a windows 2k machine connected to an ADSL, the ADSL is not the most reliable connection nor is the PC overly stable. Occasionally while at work I wil notice via VNC, that i cannot connect to my PC, 9 times out of 10 this is due to a crash anrestart. VNC is set-up as a service, but as my ADSL line needs to be started manually by connecting to the net, I cannot get back into my system until I return home to login, whereupon my PC will connect to the web via IE6. Is it possible to set-up a service so that i can connect to the web (to fire up my adsl) prior to logging in, so that I can connect once more Via VNC, if so what service would i need to run? I use a Alcatel speedtouch modem, via a usb connection using Freeserve broadband. I have no DNS applications running and my IP is not fixed, but changes very rarely. Please help. I have some PC knowledge, but this seems to be escaping me. Any solutions, I may be missing some basic point.
