Automatically setting drive letter

I have a SCSI drive booting NT server 4.0 and a 20 gig ide drive for storage. I can’t seem to get NT to recognize the IDE drive without going into the Disk Administrator and manually assigning a drive letter. The 6g
scsi dirve has two partitions. Any bios configuring for the ide drive results in the system trying to boot from the ide. Both drives are using NTFS.
