Autoresponse/Reply

I would like to set up an auto-response/reply(vacation reply) on my gentoo gateway server so that when users receive email while away from the office the messagae will be generated automatically and sent to senders

can anybody point me to step by step site or possibly tell me how you can do this with the vacation command.
