.AWD Files will not open in win 2k.

When a fax comes into my win98 computer, it arives as an e-mail attchment called XXX.awd.
This file always opened in the windows Imaging program, I can also get them to open in Iexplorer. I then read the fax and fwd it to the person it belongs to.
We just got our first win2k pc, and it can’t seem to open the .AWD files. I’ve tried Imaging, Iexplorer, Word, Wordpad, and all the rest. They all say the file type isn’t supported. Any ideas?
