Backend Database for a high volume, critical, secure website

Hello,

I am in the process of finalizing the structure of a website which I will be having developed.

The website to be deployed on the internet needs to have SSL encryption and a backend database.

I am looking for ideas / suggestions for:

1) What backend database I should use for a high volume database

2) Application Server, if any.

3) Database Server, if any

4) Webserver

5) Frontend programming language – Perl, ASP.NET, ASP….?

Please respond with specifications including versions.
