Backup Exec for Win Servers and folder/access rights

by smitha . Updated 17 years, 6 months ago

I think this relates to Windows security more than Symantec backup exec. Backupexec needs full access on all files it is to backup, we have accomplished this by creating a AD account that is a member of Domain Admins (which is a member of the Administrators group) of our domain. My AD account is also a member of the Domain Admins.
I have done a few tests, I have my User folder with only my AD account as having rights. I have other folders where only certain groups have access rights AND Domain admins is not listed in the access/security list within properties of the said folder.
I can not access the folder that domain admins is not granted access to, but backup exec can access it and back it up.
How does it do that? How does the backup gain access and I am not able to?
Thanks
Amy
