Bad cdrom?

I have a 52 speed cdrom on a p4 with 640mgs of ram and a whole bunch of other irrellavant crap that makes for a very well rounded machine.Anyway my question is the cdrom seam not to want to refresh the name of the disk.in other words i can open thedisk and read the information accordingly but the title remains the same as the disk i removed.For instance i placed a copy of a disk(Gothic_d2) in the drive and it worked fine, unfortunatly the drive now insists all disk are gothic, even tho i can run and install apps from this drive no matter whatr disk i use it says it is gothic, tried f5 refresh,and reboot anyother ideas???
