Bad Sectors

Hi,

I have a seagate harddrive which developed some badsectors, Do we have any software in the market with which we could remove the bad sector from the hard drive????
another question is what if we switch off the computer directly without siving shutdown command. Will that have any negative effect on the harddrive???
