Basic security help on network needed please!

How can I stop a laptop picking up group policies from the network without affecting the users normal logon on any other client machine. Tried seperate OU’s, not inheriting permissions. So what next.
win 2k server, XP on laptop.
Desperate to understand this one.

I would be grateful for any help.
