Batch scripting

by quietenterprises@yahoo . Updated 23 years, 7 months ago

I started at this company as PC support Hardware with a little emphasis on getting familiar with Network Administration. My question is We have 4 Servers in our domain. My boss said 2 servers are used for user logon (1 for primary, 1 as a backup)The2 logon servers are Windows 2000 Service pack 2. At log on users are batch scripted to a personal drive and a domain share. The problem occures when sporatically certain users loose there domain share mapping or aren’t mapped at all during log on. I’m familiar with batch scripting but not too fluent. Once the situation occured a few times I tried to edit the Server1 logon.bat to reflect server2 logon.bat(This is the logon file that my own machine picks up).
Both scripts were written by a consultant before I arrived. This worked for a while but this week users started loosing there domain shared drives again. I wanted to know if this problem is due to the script itself or certain machines not chosing the primary server for there authenication.
I read a few technotes and FAQ’s from different internet sources but nothing seems to work all across the board.
The network consists of 4 Servers (2 Windows NT,2 windows 2000), approx 27 Windows NT client machines, and approx 20 windows 2000 clients.
A direction in this matter would be greatly appreciated, to help reduce the amount of calls to the Help Center on this matter at least 🙂
