BEAR POS Terminal Problem

Where I work there r a lot of photocopy machines that are connected to BEAR terminal. Both r connected and used for photocopying via the terminal. A problem is exibited whereby the link on the terminal is dropped so whenever a user swipes his card to use the set terminal a “Local Link Down. See Attendant” message is displayed on screen. If that link is lost would reseting the network cable to the terminal solve the problem or is there another complex solution for that.
