Beginners Hard drive / CD-ROM questions

Could someone with a lot of patience tell me how to read the make and model of the hard drive and the CD speed for our Unix server(SCO Openserver)?

I could follow a string of commands at the Unix prompt if given them, but am a total beginner in X-Windows / Unix
