I am putting together a computer and have thus far purchased an abit kr7a-133 motherboard, 300 watt midtower case, AMD XP1700 cpu, and 256MB of DDR PC2100 memory. I have been checking reviews for performance and compatiblities for the remaining parts I need with the parts I have already purchased and am finding it overwhelming with the amount of choices and conflicting reviews. Can anyone give me some advise as to what would be a good video card, modem, hard-drive, CD-burner and any other partsthat you think would be a nice addition to my system, keeping in mind I do not want to spend a lot of money. I am not into gaming but would like to purchase a video card with decent 3d capabilities in case I should decide to try a game, but my concern is more for price and how the card will perform on my system than 3d effects. I am considering buying a Maxtor Diamond Max Plus D740X 40 GB harddrive. Do you think this would do well for me? Any suggested Websites for these specifics? Does anyonehave the same board and cpu and some advice for me?
