Best free password manager? Or just recommend against it?

Someone asked me about password managers. My first thought is to recommend against them. But most non it folk do have trouble remembering dozens of passwords. Speaking for myself, I can still remember a myriad of passwords from my last jobs.

I have heard nice things about Comodo i-vault.

How do you guys and gals feel about password storage?
