Black Screen in Normal & Safe Mode

I’m having the same issue. I get the black screen in normal mode and if I select safe mode I get the black screen with the words “safe mode” in all four corners but no error message. I don’t have the windows xp cd to run a repair. I bought computer from work and off course I got not CD with it. Is there anything I can do to save my computer?
