Blackberry syncs with Outlook through MAPI connection but…

I do not get contacts, tasks, or calendar. I get the emails fine. Would anyone have any idea why this would happen. We are not using an exchange server, and the blackberry is a verizon 8830 world edition. I tried using the desktop manager to pull the contacts/tasks/calendar over put all it shows is the archive folder and I cannot browse for the files I need. Please help.
