Hi
I recently used norton ghost 2003 to clone my primary drive (western digital 20gb caviar)to my slave drive (seagate 120gb ST3120020A).
I did this hoping I could just put the cloned seagate into my Dell optiplex GX240 and use it straightaway.
The norton ghost 2003 completed its task with no errors the clone was a success
when I put the seagate into my optiplex GX240 it attempts to boot and goes to the options screen with safe mode, start windows normally etc however no matter which one I select I get the blue screen of death error 0x0000007b (0xF9E4952B 0XC0000034 0X00000000 0X00000000)saying check for viruses .
I have just completed a virus check on the original drive (from which the clone was created)the only thing it found was magne2t I do not know if this can cause boot problems .
the pc that the hard drives were in and norton ghost 2003 was working from is a bit of a frankensteins monster -with all sorts of mixed and matched parts from several pcs so I was thinking maybe the dell optiplex gx240 has outdated drivers, hard drive controllers etc and cannot boot from the clone as the drivers etc are incorrect
The dell optiplex GX240 is using bios revison A01 do you think upgrading would allow me to boot on without getting blue screen ?
I have tried the windows repair console on the hard drive and ran fixMBR,chkdsk /r etc but to no avail I still get the same blue screen of death
