Bluetooth Spooler subsystem app error

I have an HP Officejet and bt300 wireless Bluetooth adapter. Whenever I try to print I get a Spooler subsystem app error. This happens with both Word and Notepad so I don’t think it is because it’s Word 97 but I’m far from an expert. The test page prints fine and I can print photos from Image Zone, The HP Photo printing application software. I also find I can’t scan through the bluetooth connection altough eveything works fine using the USB cable. Does anyone out there have any ideas what is going on?
