Does anyone know if there exists anything for PC hardware/software tech work akin to “book time” in the automotive repair industry?
As a PC tech, sometimes I find myself spending more time on certain jobs than what I myself consider “worththe effort” and I end up not knowing what to charge my client. I put the time in, but how can I honestly charge THAT much for this.
It would be wonderful to have a guide I could reference that would tell me something like:
R&R Motherboard — xxx hrs.
Install CDRom Drive — xxx hrs.
etc.
If this doesn’t exist, maybe we could set up a common ground where experienced techs could enter in what they charge (in hours, not $$), take a fair average and publish the results. I think this would be most beneficial.
