we have a usb pendrive 512 MB and want to use it as bootdevice. we’ve prepared it with sys under W98, plug in, booting, setting the usb device in the bios at first place (under Hardrive it is recognized as USB stick). always getting errors like ” operating system not found” or anything else. At the same PC we can boot from a USB external CD ROM with bootable CD (same W98)
what is the difference between USB Flash and USB CDR. We have tested it with 3 USB Memory Sticks on 5 differnt PC’s and laptops. Message differs but result is the same > no possiblity to boot
Searching the internet I only found terms that BIOS has to support USB Boot. I can boot from USB but not from USB Flash Disk.
Any really good ideas. I’ve spended 8 hours in testing and searching
