Branch Caching 2008 R2

Hello,

I’m researching using Branch Caching feature of Server 2008 R2 and one question I can’t get answered in the articles I’m reading is whether a 2008 R2 Domain Controller is required to use the distributed caching feature. Or can I have a server with Server 2008 R2 and a remote office with Windows 7 clients and still be on 2003 domain controllers. Can anyone help me here?
