Broadcast Storm

Every 3-4 months I experience what I believe to be a broadcast storm. All the ports on all my 3Com switches just freeze up and TCP/IP comes to a screeching halt. I have looked at my switch activity and there are some errors but nothing blatantly obvious. Does anyone have any clue as to what I could do to figure out what is causing this problem?
