Our small network consists of two locations that are connected via a dedicated ISDN line and CISCO 800-series ISDN routers. At the main location the server is set up for DHCP with a scope of 192.168.1.24 ? 192.168.1.190. Server & WINS IP: 192.168.1.1. Windows NT 4.0, PDC. The ISDN router has Ethernet IP: 192.168.12.201, WAN IP: 192.168.3.201. On the remote site the PCs has static IP addresses in the range of 192.168.2.50 – 192.168.2.100. The remote ISDN router has Ethernet IP: 192.168.12.200, WAN IP: 192.168.3.202. The computers at the remote location run Windows 2000 Professional. No server there.
The Cisco ISDN routers were installed and configured by our locale phone company (Ameritech). But now I get messages every 12 minutes in the System log in Event Viewer that one of the computers at the remote site think it?s a Master Browser and is forcing an election. I edited the registry on the remote PC and set IsDomainMaster to False, but it still think it?s the master browser. The events has the red STOP icons, Event ID: 8003, Source: Rdr, Type: Error. Is this a ?normal? error, or what else must I do to stop the remote PC from stopping the browsing service and forcing an election?
Thank you,
