We have our T-1 Service through Paetec. We are part of a WAN via MPLS and VPN.
We also have Cable Internet Service.
I would like to have the Cable Internet Service as a fail over access to the Internet in case Paetec goes down. I am not worried about the WAN, since Corporate has an internet interface to Citrix.
I asked for a Ethernet WIC for our Cisco 2801 and Paetec quoted me a 1-Port T1/Fractional T1 DSU/CSU WAN Interface Card. I don’t believe this would be the correct hardware, thinking the Cable modem has an ethernet port with a public IP address.
We have service with Paetec for the configuration, so though I would like to know the ins and outs of routing, I don’t have time to learn it, they will be configuring the router. What I need to know is what interface do I need to connect to the ethernet port of the Cable modem.
