Cable Modem Connectivity Issues

by the_webninja9 . Updated 17 years, 11 months ago

Here is the senerio:
I bought a Linksys Cable Modem, then signed up for an account with my Local Cable Company, and they walked me through refreshing my ip address and releasing the ipconfig. The Modem worked great.
Then I got the bright idea that I was going to get a VOIP Modem, which only resulted in endless telemarketing calls, making me feel like I was wasting my money, so I cancelled the VOIP Modem and returned it. Now I go to reconnect using my Linksys Cable Modem, and I can’t get it to work right. I went through the normal Resetting the Modem, and unplugging and resetting the Computer and Modem, and releasing the ipconfig, and the Network is showing that everything is working but all I get is the Cable Company’s Start page.
How do I get past this Start Page Problem?
It is acting like My Browser is Hardwired to configure the Cable Company as the Homepage, but no matter what I try to do I can’t view anything else but that.
No matter what URL I type in it will only display my Cable Company’s Start Page.

I am using the exact same computer I used with the exact same Modem BEFORE I got VOIP. But maybe my Computer is looking for the Mac Address of the VOIP Modem? How do I change that?
