I’m trying to calculate the hardware requirement for a customers W2.3K SBS Standard Edition. Microsoft recommends a 1 GHz or faster processor, 1 GB or higher (4 GB Max) RAM and 16 GB of HDD space.
I can calculate the additional HDD requirement per user and enable disk quota’s to enforce this, but how much RAM and processing power do I specify per group of 5 additional concurrent user CAL’s?
Can I have 75 users on a Celeron 1GHz server and 1 GB RAM? surely not, but at what stage do I specify 2 or even 4 GB of RAM and a Xeon (or two) or even higher end processor (lets assume I’m just using the machine as a file server and MS Exchange is fully utilised with shared calenders, contacts etc)
Has anybody got a user friendly alogorithm for this?
