Can Norton Virus Scan Handle Foreign Language Files?

I tried to scan a couple files with Japanese character file names, and then a couple files with English names in a folder with a Japanese character name. In all cases Norton came back with “invalid path”. These are valid files that Windows XP handles without issue.

This would seem to be a huge security hole. Even worse a system scan comes back clean with no mention of files that can’t be scanned.

Can anyone confirm this issue? Norton support comes back with “fixes” for generic inability to scan but ignores the language question.
