Can Not Boot

I recently had a hard drive crash on one of my systems. I replaced it with a hard drive that has Windows 98 on and does work (I tried in in another system). I placed it in the system I need it in and I get an error when booting the system up. Right after the system says Verrifying DMI Pool Data I get the following Error “Disk I/O Error Replace the disk, and then press any key”

This hard drive is good, it does work in another system. I am leaning towards a bad mother board. How ever this system was ok before the hard drive went.

Any ideas. I have tried switching the IDE around and a new IDE cable all together.
