Can not log on to a server remotely using Remote Desktop

I am having the following error “The system cannot log you on due to the following error: The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. Please try again or consult your system administrator.” when trying to connect remotely to through remote desktop to the domain,but i am able to log on to the local machine remotely. i am a domain administrator.
