Can ping internet from router but not from PC

by stevenroberts333 . Updated 18 years, 10 months ago

Hi,

I have a problem with my home connection to my ISP (BT Broadband) My PC simply drops the connection. This happens particularly when I am away from the keyboard for any period of time – and sometimes from the moment I boot up the PC.

When this happens, I can always successfully ping the router from the PC. The router (a D-Link DSL-G604T) connects to the internet okay. If I telnet onto the router I can successfully ping the internet (e.g. www.google.com) from the BusyBox command prompt. But I can’t ping the same URL from the PC.

I’m really confused about this – any help would be gratefully received.

Steve.
