Cannot access doc win2k pc fr win98se

In attempting to access any office files on a win2k wrokstation from any win98se workstation returns “Cannot access read-only file *.doc, *.xls.”, then a second “Cannot access *.doc, *.xls.” On win2k macine, folder is shared, and all directory’s andcontents are viewed from all other workstations, but files cannot be opened for viewing. Read Permissions have be granted to “everyone”, and Full access granted to specific users. TCP/IP and Netbeui are the protocols, and access to everything else from all workstations are wroking properly. FYI, this is the first wik2k workstation on a 1 server LAN, with the server running win2k, and all other workstations are win98.
