Cannot connect tomcat with apache

I followed the instructions on :http://www.johnturner.com/howto/apache2-tomcat4127-jk-rh9-howto.html
and downloaded the connector from:
http://www.apache.org/dist/jakarta/tomcat-4/source/

other then that in my conf/server.xml i commented the coyote jk connector for 8009 and uncommented the ajp13 one.
After having done all this apache and tomact are not connected ? can any body help?
