Canon imageRunner with PCL6 drivers prints out oddly

We just updated the printer drivers on our Canon imageRunner 3045. Since then, we printing from some applications the font has the letters overlapping so as to make the words look scrunched together. We don’t want to revert back to the old drivers since this printer needs to be available through a terminal service which has the updated drivers already. Anyone come across this issue and know how to correct it? The systems using the printer are Windows XP SP3.
