Can’t connect to Internet!

I use a Winsock Proxy client to conenct to the internet through our corporate network. A Laptop I am working on has the WSP client enabled, IE is set to use a proxy server, I can browse the corporate network, all necesary permissions, protocols, andadapters are installed and working right, yet I cannot get onto the internet or ping addresses outside the network.
